Ah, Super Bowl LIX. Where do I even begin? Oh right, let’s start with the most important part: the party. The crew rolled in, the TVs were perfectly synced, because nothing ruins a Super Bowl party faster than someone shouting “TOUCHDOWN!” while the rest of us are still watching the snap. The food was deliciously spread buffet style and the bar stocked to everyone’s liking. Spirits were high, expectations were higher, and then… football happened.
Pregame festivities kicked off in grand style. Ledisi delivered a soul-stirring rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” backed by an angelic choir of New Orleans students. Then, Jon Batiste brought the jazzy New Orleans magic to the National Anthem, both setting the tone for what was sure to be a legendary night of football.
Then came the coin toss. The Chiefs won and decided to defer, a fancy way of saying, “You go ahead, Eagles we want it first at the top of the second half”. The Eagles, not ones to waste an opportunity, responded with a firm, “Oh, you’re giving us the ball first, big mistake”. And it was, the Eagles played like a well-run machine executing with accuracy and perfect timing leading to being the first team to put points on the board with a touchdown and score they did…And again…And again...and you get the picture. But how poetic, the first touchdown was made by quarterback Jalen Hurts, in which he eventually rained the MVP of the game.
By halftime, the score was a laughable 22-0 and the energy was running high for the Eagles fans. The party focus was shifting from the game to more interesting matters, like making sure the nacho cheese stayed hot and debating whether the wings needed another round in the oven. Somewhere in the third quarter, the Chiefs finally remembered they were, in fact, a football team playing for the Championship and managed to put some points on the board. But unfortunately, it was a little too late, the Eagles continued to capitalize on their momentum responding with more touchdowns. By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, the focus shifted from watching the game to where the most intense action was happening at the buffet table.
So, there you have it. Final score 40 – 22 Eagles reign 2025 Champions, Super Bowl LIX in all its glory! A totally one-sided game, and a party that ultimately became more about the buffet than the game. Maybe next year, we’ll get a game that holds our attention, or at the very least, a better selection of commercials…and the commercials, I don’t have time to discuss the lust less commercials.
Cheers to the Eagles!! It may not have been a thrilling game for us viewers, but I am sure it was the ultimate game for the Eagles!! Congratulations!!
